At this time, we do not offer direct billing, however, clients may submit their receipt for reimbursement should they have Registered Psychotherapist services covered. Peacewood therapy receipts have both clinician and supervisor license numbers which typically suffice for psychotherapy coverage. All clients are encouraged to check with their insurance company to ensure coverage.
Psychotherapy is also known as talk therapy. The primary function of talk therapy provided by mental health professionals is to help people identify issues that are causing emotional distress.
For some, talk therapy may provide clients with a safe space to discuss their issues, feelings and emotions. Some therapists may work with clients to come up with goals, develop strategies and solutions to help decrease severity of symptoms while others may not depending on client needs.
Clients should be prepared to engage, open up, share, grow and be willing to learn. There may be parts of therapy in which hard topics or conversations may be brought up, while therapists are trained to help clients explore these difficult parts of life, clients have full control of how much they want to share and can stop discussing topic at hand or session whenever they feel like it.
I always encourage clients to reach out for a free 15 minute consultation, this will let me learn more about you and let you know more about the work we will do together. This will also be an opportunity for you to ask any questions (of course you can ask at any time during sessions as well). We can also check in to see by the end of the consultation whether you think this is a good fit and where we want to go from here.
During our first full session together, I will be getting to learn more about you as I engage in the intake process. We will have the opportunity to discuss any goals you might want to try and achieve and areas you want to work on or explore!
Generally, think of it as a casual conversation. I want all my clients to feel supported, comfortable and welcomed. If there is something I can do to make that happen in which I am not doing, I am always open to feedback! Therapy does not have to be as rigid or formal as you think!
Change doesn't always happen overnight, everyone's path and journey to peace, happiness, fulfillment and meaning may look different. Most people find that even after one session, has made a positive impact to their lives. That might be true for you too!
